The Storm Windows are known as purveyors (some say inventors) of “Power-Folk”, with live performances described as the “Folk Ramones” by Spin Magazine. Performing on the recording are The Storm Windows Trio: Rob Mathews – guitar and vocals, Don Mathews – upright bass and vocals and Erik Anderson – drums. The single is being released on the PGRoots label of Paper Garden Records and will be followed by the release of a full album (including on vinyl if you are lucky enough to catch a live show this summer). The Storm Windows play both showcases and bar gigs, and always have a few of each lined up. The band takes their name The Storm Windows from a song title of one of their musical heroes, John Prine, but also as an appropriate description of some veteran musicians who have weathered a few storms but are still standing and singing about it. Critics have labeled their music “New Americana – a blend of folk, rock and even jazz laced sonics.”
The single is the first release on the PGRoots label and portends the upcoming full live album to be released on August 21.
